Maurepas Pipeline, LLC, Subsidiary of Semgroup
QPSE provided engineering, procurement, environmental permitting and construction services for three pipelines: a 34-mile, 6-inch olefins pipeline; a 36-mile, 12-inch vacuum gas oil (VGO) pipeline; and a 34-mile, 24-inch crude oil pipeline.
The pipelines traverse parts of St. Charles, St. James, St. John the Baptist and Ascension parishes in Louisiana and will serve to connect the Convent refinery, the Norco refinery, and the LOCAP crude oil terminal. The 12-inch and 24-inch lines are concrete coated for much of their length. The project also included three new pump stations and receipt stations.
The 34-mile, 6-inch olefins line runs from the new Norco pump station to the Convent refinery. Pigging facilities are included, as well as five mainline valves (MLV). The pipeline construction includes eight horizontal directional drills (HDD).
The 36-mile, 12-inch VGO line runs from the new Convent pump station to the Norco refinery. Two launchers and two receivers were part of the scope. A one-mile section of pipeline was installed through a residential area to tie into the Norco refinery. The VGO pipeline includes five MLVs and ten HDDs. The pipeline was installed with a skin effect heat tracing system.
The 34-mile, 24-inch crude oil line runs west to east from the new Locap pump station and ties into the Norco refinery. It includes two launchers and two receivers, as well as a one-mile section through the same residential corridor as the VGO line. The pipeline includes six MLVs and ten HDDs, including a major 6,000-ft long Mississippi River HDD.
